Just when we thought that Volkswagen wasn’t as famous anymore; it took us by surprise! The German company started its operation in North America in Puebla some fifty years ago and it just produced its tenth millionth car in August 2013.
The car is a black and yellow Volkswagen Beetle GSR, essentially a 1970s inspired limited edition and is practically a treat for not only the eyes but also for the ease of the driver as well. According to the specifications released by VW, the car is run by a turbocharged, direct injection 2 liter TSI engine to allow it run smoothly and offer better “fuel economy”. This 10 millionth production is to celebrate the Beetle’s 75 years of life and success amongst car enthusiasts.
Only 3500 units of the car have been sold, and the press is now waiting for an official press release by the German carmakers for a price. Surprised as the world was, you might want to know that Puebla is the second largest plant that the Volkswagen Corporation owns and it sets a precedent of shattering expectations each year.
