Along with the UK, U.S, Canada, New Zealand and other automobile and technological giants such as Germany and Japan, Australia shall also take part in Toyota’s Global Trial of plug-in hybrid cars which are based on petrol-electric Prius. Such cars are infused with the technology to run on lithium-ion batteries and this trial shall be a joint endeavor by the government and the private business houses. The partners shall be selected on the basis of their feedback response ability, location and their commitment to technology.
The program is basically intended to highlight the problems of the use and functional mechanisms of electric vehicles as well as the benefits of plug-in hybrid cars. It shall also help Toyota & its end-user partners to acquire the knowledge of the demands of the modern advanced era and put their innovation to a global test.
Toyota has planned to rope in around six-hundred cars from all over the world, five of them being from Australia itself which shall be used for demonstration in various cities. The plug-in hybrid technology has enormous advantages over any other fuel technology cars and Toyota has emerged as a global leader in this field. Such a global trial shall boost the dominance and popularity of Toyota on the automobile front.
