Dodge is decisive in keeping the American Club Racer brooch as it brings the astonishing 2016 Dodge Viper ACR. The American muscle car producer says the ACR Aero Package can deliver the greatest down force for any production vehicle. This is almost a ton of road-gripping pressure at the breakneck speed of 284.9 km/h.
This tremendous pressure is accomplished by a dual-element rear wing that measures six-feet wide plus a host of equipment that includes dive planes, detachable hood louvers, removable front splitter extension and a rear underbody diffuser with 6 removable strakes that cause friction against the track for straight-line stability.
If you think this is crazy enough, you need to hold on to your seat! The muscle car uses Kumho Ecsta V720 tires with fitments of 295/25R19 on front wheels and 355/30R19 on the rear. These street-legal tires have a unique design specially made for the ACR as it allows the car to produce faster laps as compared to off-road vehicle tires.
The vehicle may enjoy drifting at high-speeds but when it’s time to slow down, the ACR carbon ceramic brakes that measure 15.4 inches on front and 14.2 inches on rear tires decelerate strongly.
The ABS system is well-tuned to work with the ACR’s super-high brakes while the ESC system has five modes, including the OFF mode.
Now let’s not forget the ACR’s powerhouse, the 8.4L V-10 engine that can deliver a power output of 645hp and a torque of 600 lb-ft. This powerful force is claimed by Dodge to be the highest for any naturally-aspirated sports car and is supplied through a Tremec TR6060 six-speed transmission.
No report on the price yet, but I’ve heard that it will hit the roads in the last quarter.
