Daimler Lifts the Curtains of Mercedes-AMG GT3 Race Car Before Geneva Motor Show

The competition among track-only cars is getting fierce as Mercedes has officially introduced GT3 racer based on road-going Mercedes-AMG GT coupe. This would be another great entry alongside Aston Martin Vulcan at the Geneva Motor Show.

Under the hood, it will have a 6.2-liter V8 engine borrowed from SLS AMG GT3 which would produce around 600bhp. The power is channeled through a six-speed sequential transmission mounted on the rear axle. Mercedes did not rely on the new 4.0-liter turbocharged V8 which powers its road-legal GTS as the “high-revving naturally aspirated engine” include “user-friendly technology, excellent reliability, long maintenance intervals and … low running costs”

The Mercedes-AMG GT3 racer comes with a number of modifications including widened body, large air intakes at the front, a new diffuser and a prominent rear spoiler. All the aerodynamic alterations are made to enhance the output and performance.

No word about the price yet, but reportedly the Mercedes-AMG GT3 will hit the roads by the end of this year.
