Renault Duster has sort opened a new segment of sorts. One look at it and you get the feel of comfortable interiors and a butch appearance. The competition in the market just cannot match to its efficient diesel engine.  And there is a petrol variant available as well. It is the mid-level diesel that offers the best value for money and lowest running costs. The Duster is worth a look if you are looking for a SUV that is a bit smaller. This is a car that will not guzzle on fuel like a SUV and it is yet a SUV.

Duster entered the Indian market in 2012 and soon became the new heartthrob of the country. Taking cue from its immense popularity, other auto makers like Mahindra & Mahindra and Ford are bringing out their own versions of a compact sports utility. Renault Duster is the best 5 seater SUV. Take a look at a brief review on Duster.

Renault-Duster

Inspired by Renault Logan, the all black-theme in the interiors offers more of sporty look. Renault’s logo lies on the electrically powered 3 spoke steering. The dash is sporty and curvy. A lot of interior equipments seem to be borrowed heavily from Logan, for example the instrument cluster covers the chrome polished dials supporting a digital display. The glove box is fairly large for storage. The flat seats are very comfortable. Front seats are electrically programmable. Other features are Power windows, Bluetooth, music system etc.

Engine and performance

Renault Duster is available in both diesel and petrol options. The petrol driven variant lodges a 1598cc engine and makes 100.3bhp at 5850 rpm, offering a highest 145Nm torque at 3750 rpm. As the SUV is lighter, it offers great fuel efficiency. Renault Duster is competent in offering 19.01kmpl for the 108.5bhp powertrain and 20.46kmpl mileage for the diesel 83.8bhp engine. The petrol variant, like any other car model offers a lesser mileage when compared to the diesel ones.

Safety features

In terms of safety, Renault Duster offers EBA or emergency brake assist and EBV or electronic brakeforce distribution, depending on versions. This is one of the safest places to be in. high seating position gives a better view and the active and passive safety features are always at work, thus making the car completely safe. The safety features include central locking, door open warning lamp, engine immobilizer and engine protective under guard. Other features that are incorporated as per the version are two front airbags, Brakeforce Distribution, three-point seatbelt tensioners and stability control module.
