General Motors to off-load Saab Manufacture

The official spokeswoman Gunilla Gustavs confirmed the news that circulated in the market about General Motors closing down manufacturing of Swedish car brand Saab from December 18.

She further said General Motors is welcoming offers from prospecting buyers still they are in no hurry to close the deal immediately. They can wait till something real matures.

Independent information confirmed that the automaker is refusing to comment on any deadline fixed for proposals. The possibility seems obvious that the date is, reportedly extended to January 7.

If there’s one thing GM is selling, it’s Corvettes. Even with the recent major restructuring as a result of the recent bankruptcy, Corvettes are still a hot item, and GM knows it. Many speculated that bankruptcy would mean the ‘Vette would go the way of the Sky or other marques that GM has done away with in recent years – not so, according to CEO Henderson on June 5th, after the filing. It is still profitable and will remain “the V8 engineering rear wheel drive icon we all love,” according to a question asked by a participant during the live chat session. According to Henderson, the brand will continue as part of a slimmed down, leaner and meaner GM. And recent word on the street has it that GM won’t be doing away with the company’s racing programs, including Corvette Racing – another bright spot on what otherwise might be a bleak horizon for GM’s near future.

BREAKING: Supreme Court Stays Sales of Chrysler to Fiat

The sale of the Chrysler to Fiat has been hindered by the Supreme Court stay. Earlier three Indiana state pension funds had filed a lawsuit in New York because they got 45$ million holding in Chrysler’s secured loans. This case went in the favor of Chrysler and they lost it in the high court.

Following this they have filed another lawsuit in the Supreme Court asking for holding the sales of Chrysler to Fiat.

Based on the lawsuit filed, the Supreme Court jury Ruth Bader Ginsburg has given a decision that the sale would be temporarily delayed until further order is issued. The Chryslers lawyers fear that this stay would affect the deal with Fiat that is scheduled to go under in a few days.

Cruze And Spark Are Hoped To Give GM A Global Boost

General Motors is all set to boost with its Chevrolet brand preparing two fuel efficient small cars in Europe, across the world, and home too by its U.S. concern. Both mini cars Cruze and Spark are the base for the boost plan.
